At Off Madison Ave, we’re no strangers to the unexpected. In one of our latest ventures with the Arizona Office of Tourism, we turned what most would see as marketing lemons into a refreshing lemonade of laughter and publicity. Our social series, One Star Reviews: Parks Edition,” transformed less-than-stellar feedback into a spotlight of humor and human connection.

Crafting Comedy from Critiques

Embarking on a mission to promote Arizona’s 34 state parks, we took inspiration from the world of late-night comedy, notably the “Mean Tweets” segment. However, our twist featured real park rangers hilariously confronting one-star reviews. From critiques on weather to the wishful relocation of rattlesnakes, we brought light-heartedness to the forefront, reminding everyone that sometimes, a laugh shared is worth more than a critique overcome.

A Symphony of Creativity and Collaboration

The success of “One Star Reviews: Parks Edition” was not just in its novelty but in the collaborative ethos between Off Madison Ave and the Arizona Office of Tourism. This partnership, rooted in trust and a shared willingness to push creative boundaries, underscored the campaign’s innovative approach. It’s a testament to the power of embracing risks, all while keeping a spirit of fun alive.

Award-Winning Recognition and a Celebration of Teamwork

The campaign’s resonance was not only felt by park visitors and the tourism office but also recognized by our peers at the 2024 American Advertising Awards. Walking away with a Gold ADDY, Best of Show, and Judges’ Choice among hundreds of entries at the state level and then Judges’ Choice again at the Mountain Region District Level, the campaign’s success highlighted how connecting with audiences on a humorous level can leave a lasting impression.

Behind this campaign was a talented team of individuals whose creativity and dedication brought our vision to life. Special thanks to Madi Hirakawa, Paul Howell, Halie Felish, Lindsey Clinkingbeard, and Hannah Steward for their hard work and innovative spirit. Their efforts, supported by the adventurous and trusting nature of our client the Arizona Office of Tourism, paved the way for this memorable campaign.

Looking Forward with Laughter

As we reflect on the impact of turning negative feedback into positive engagement, we’re reminded of the endless possibilities creativity holds. This campaign not only showcased Arizona’s state parks in a new light but also set the stage for future endeavors where humor and marketing meld seamlessly. We’re just getting started on transforming challenges into opportunities for connection and laughter.

The best results come from working together.
